But before we get too far into what&#8217;s next, I have news to share in regards to Sasquanaut.</p><p class="button-wrapper" data-attrs="{&quot;url&quot;:&quot;https://weshartman.substack.com/subscribe?&quot;,&quot;text&quot;:&quot;Subscribe now&quot;,&quot;action&quot;:null,&quot;class&quot;:null}" data-component-name="ButtonCreateButton"><a class="button primary" href="https://weshartman.substack.com/subscribe?"><span>Subscribe now</span></a></p><p>For almost eleven years, I&#8217;ve been using the same computer for all of my comic work.</p><p>Back when I was working for Antarctic Press and ACCC, I was constantly replacing machines. I had a computer at home and another at the office, and because deadlines never seem to care when hardware fails, I usually had to buy whatever I could find locally and get back to work as quickly as possible. Most of those computers lasted about eighteen months before something went wrong.</p><p>Eventually, I decided to invest in a custom-built workstation. My goal was simple: build something powerful enough to last five years.</p><p>Instead, it lasted nearly eleven.</p><p>That machine has colored comics, lettered books, built Kickstarter campaigns, and helped create everything from Sky Sharks to Savage Sasquanaut. It&#8217;s still running today, but it&#8217;s finally showing its age, so I&#8217;ve decided not to push my luck. A new system should be arriving this week, along with a much-needed new desk chair.</p><p>The only remaining question is whether my aging Cintiq will cooperate with modern operating systems. Hopefully it does, because I&#8217;d rather spend my money making comics than replacing more hardware.</p><p>Still, all of these upgrades are investments in the future. My goal isn't just to finish issue #7. It's to build the tools and workspace I'll be using to bring the next decade of Sasquanaut stories to life.Speaking of Sasquanaut...</p><p>Today I&#8217;m excited to officially reveal the connecting covers for <strong>Savage Sasquanaut #7-10</strong>, illustrated by the incredible <strong>Craig Babiar</strong>.</p><div class="captioned-image-container"><figure><a class="image-link image2 Art by Craig Babiar (next Cosmic Blast see it in full-color)</figcaption></figure></div><p>If you&#8217;ve been following the series, you already know Craig&#8217;s work. He created all of the &#8220;B&#8221; covers for issues #1-6 and illustrated the Crimson Hombre story included in the collected edition. He&#8217;s also now the regular series artist for Savage Sasquanaut, and he&#8217;s closing in on completing the artwork for issue #8.</p><p>And that&#8217;s not the only good news.</p><div><hr></div><p>While working on issue #7, I&#8217;ve also been revisiting issues #1-6 because I&#8217;ve entered into an agreement with <strong>Antarctic Press</strong> to bring the first six issues of Savage Sasquanaut to comic shops nationwide.</p><p>Issue #1 is currently scheduled to hit stores in <strong>November 2026</strong>.</p><p>With my own inventory of several issues running low, I started looking at options for reprints. After talking with Antarctic Press, it became clear that getting the books into comic stores would not only solve that problem, but also introduce the series to entirely new readers.</p><p>My hope is that wider distribution helps more people discover Sasquanaut, which in turn helps build momentum for future Kickstarter campaigns and new stories.</p><p>And with the new issues I wanted to do new covers for the first 6 issues. We will also be reprinting one of two of the other variants along with the new covers.</p><p>Originally, the plan was simply to reprint one or two of the existing covers for the AP publication of the first six issues.</p><p>Then I had a ridiculous idea.</p><p>I pitched it to Craig fully expecting him to tell me it was too much work.</p><p>Instead, he liked it.</p><p>So now we&#8217;re creating a brand-new set of connecting covers for issues #1-6 that will connect directly into the covers for issues #7-10.</p><div class="captioned-image-container"><figure><a class="image-link image2" target="_blank" href="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!-b5Z!,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fa7741f07-79b7-4ee4-95d5-088de5bc75b7_2048x468.jpeg" data-component-name="Image2ToDOM"><div class="image2-inset"><picture><source type="image/webp" srcset="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!-b5Z!,w_424,c_limit,f_webp,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fa7741f07-79b7-4ee4-95d5-088de5bc75b7_2048x468.jpeg 424w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!-b5Z!,w_848,c_limit,f_webp,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fa7741f07-79b7-4ee4-95d5-088de5bc75b7_2048x468.jpeg 848w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!-b5Z!,w_1272,c_limit,f_webp,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fa7741f07-79b7-4ee4-95d5-088de5bc75b7_2048x468.jpeg 1272w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!-b5Z!,w_1456,c_limit,f_webp,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fa7741f07-79b7-4ee4-95d5-088de5bc75b7_2048x468.jpeg 1456w" sizes="100vw"><img src="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!-b5Z!,w_1456,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fa7741f07-79b7-4ee4-95d5-088de5bc75b7_2048x468.jpeg" width="1456" height="333" data-attrs="{&quot;src&quot;:&quot;https://substack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com/public/images/a7741f07-79b7-4ee4-95d5-088de5bc75b7_2048x468.jpeg&quot;,&quot;srcNoWatermark&quot;:null,&quot;fullscreen&quot;:null,&quot;imageSize&quot;:null,&quot;height&quot;:333,&quot;width&quot;:1456,&quot;resizeWidth&quot;:null,&quot;bytes&quot;:196375,&quot;alt&quot;:null,&quot;title&quot;:null,&quot;type&quot;:&quot;image/jpeg&quot;,&quot;href&quot;:null,&quot;belowTheFold&quot;:true,&quot;topImage&quot;:false,&quot;internalRedirect&quot;:&quot;https://weshartman.substack.com/i/203402689?img=https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fa7741f07-79b7-4ee4-95d5-088de5bc75b7_2048x468.jpeg&quot;,&quot;isProcessing&quot;:false,&quot;align&quot;:null,&quot;offset&quot;:false}" class="sizing-normal" alt="" srcset="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!-b5Z!,w_424,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fa7741f07-79b7-4ee4-95d5-088de5bc75b7_2048x468.jpeg 424w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!-b5Z!,w_848,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fa7741f07-79b7-4ee4-95d5-088de5bc75b7_2048x468.jpeg 848w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!-b5Z!,w_1272,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fa7741f07-79b7-4ee4-95d5-088de5bc75b7_2048x468.jpeg 1272w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!-b5Z!,w_1456,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fa7741f07-79b7-4ee4-95d5-088de5bc75b7_2048x468.jpeg 1456w" sizes="100vw" loading="lazy"></picture><div></div></div></a><figcaption class="image-caption">Pencils for new Craig Babiar issues 1-6 Savage Sasquanaut covers</figcaption></figure></div><p>That means we&#8217;re building a single <strong>10-issue connecting image</strong> stretching across the entire series.</p><p>Is it necessary?</p><p>Absolutely not.</p><p>Is it <em><strong>awesome</strong></em>?</p><p><em><strong>ABSOLUTELY!</strong></em></p><p>As soon as I have the complete image assembled, I'll share it with you.
